Interviewing and Recruiting

We are committed to helping our candidates "be at their best" throughout the interviewing and recruiting process. We strongly believe that candidates should be well-prepared and well-versed in how to conduct themselves and present themselves prior to interviews with our clients.

Please review and consider the following interviewing and recruiting process tips and techniques:

Important Interview "Do's":

  • Read and review any and all material you can find concerning the firm or company, including any brochures or other information that may have been sent to you in advance of the interview. Visit web pages and review material thoroughly.
  • Be punctual. Arrive a minimum of five minutes before the scheduled first interview begins.
  • Dress conservatively. For men, conservative business attire is most appropriate, including dark suits (navy, dark gray), white starched shirt, conservative tie, and shined shoes. Women should also wear conservative business attire and should avoid wearing unnecessary jewelry.
  • Know exactly where you are going, how long it will take to get there and whom you will need to ask for when you arrive.
  • Show interest and enthusiasm in conversations and leave a lasting enthusiastic impression of yourself.
  • Be prepared to ask thoughtful and insightful questions.
  • Treat the interviewer like your best client – be respectful and engaging.
  • Watch your posture and body language. Be attuned to the non-verbal perceptions you may be leaving.
  • Maintain eye contact during all conversations.
  • Let the interviewer maintain control of the interview process.
  • Listen carefully to all questions before responding. Provide organized and relevant responses.
  • Understand and ask each interviewer about any concerns or issues he or she may have concerning your background or "fit." Ensure that you adequately addressed these issues and concerns.
  • Relax and be yourself.

Important Interview "Don'ts":

  • Do not initiate compensation discussions.
  • Do not dwell on negative matters.
  • Do not talk negatively about your current or prior employers.
  • Do not allow your responses to get off track. Avoid rambling and unorganized responses.
  • Do not arrive late. If you do happen to be running late, call ahead and make sure the first person you are scheduled to meet knows of your delay.
  • Do not take control of the interview.
  • Do not let the interview end with any misunderstandings regarding your background or level of fit. It is very important that you clarify and address any significant issues or concerns relating to your background or fit.
